i do believe that part of the problem is one of meaning: markets can indeed be very efficient (how could they not be in the digital age?), while still be not be correct, fair, accurate representations of future value. We had a saying in the the STIR futures pits: the interest rate curve is always efficient (meaning truly expressing the current notions of banks and hedgers of all stripes), but ALWAYS wrong.
